Mach, Arnošt
The diploma thesis is focused on the assessment of runoff conditions in the selected location for a purpose in form of the proposal complex system of measures. First of all was created literary research on topics like hydrology, forest roads, and measures for water retention. Next were in detail described the natural conditions of the chosen location. Thanks to the field survey were possible to identify critical locations for increased water drainage and determine risk factors. Based on the information gathered evaluated runoff conditions in the studied area and created a rainfall-runoff model in open-source software HEC-HMS. Lastly were designed measures for enabling the safe flow of water and measures for an increase in overall ecological stability.
Multi-criteria calibration of a hydrological model using runoff, snow water equivalent and groundwater level data
Hlavatý, Vojtěch ; Jeníček, Michal (advisor) ; Šípek, Václav (referee)
Multi-criteria calibration of a hydrological model (against multiple output variables simultaneously) has in previous research mostly resulted in satisfactory quality and reduced uncertainty in the simulations of all variables considered. However, its importance in the context of groundwater and low flows has rarely been studied. Therefore, a multi- criteria calibration using observed runoff, snow water equivalent and groundwater level data was performed in this study to determine if this approach leads to more accurate simulations, especially for low flows. The HBV hydrological model was calibrated using a genetic algorithm on the case of 14 mountain and sub-mountain basins in Czechia. The accuracy of different calibration variants was evaluated according to objective functions and hydrological signatures. The results show that multi-criteria calibration against the three mentioned variables is a good compromise for correct simulation of all these variables, where the value of objective function for each of them differs only slightly from a calibration more focused on it alone. Considering groundwater in the calibration further increases the simulated baseflow and its variability and refines the simulation of low flows, especially in summer, in terms of deficit volumes, minimum runoff and other...
Simulace vlivu potenciálně vybudované vodní nádrže na odtok vody z vybraného povodí
HOŘEJŠÍ, Štěpán
This thesis consists of a literature review and a practical part focused on water retention - one of the crucial functions of water reservoirs. The aim of the thesis is to use the hydrological model HEC-HMS to simulate the impact of the water reservoir on the water runoff from the catchment area in the selected watershed and demonstrate how water reservoirs are able to affect the hydrograph during rainfall runoff events. In the included literature review, water reservoirs and their classifications are defined. Subsequently, precipitation and runoff, as well as the rainfall-runoff events, are explained. At the end of the literature review, various hydrological models are presented, with a closer description of the HEC-HMS hydrological model. The practical part consists of a description of the catchment area and the constructed water reservoir. This is followed by an analysis of the used method, including the necessary calculations for hydrological modelling. Finally, obtained results are presented and evaluated.
Modelling the impact of potential restoration of small reservoirs on the hydrological regime at the upper Vydra River basin.
Purm, Marek ; Vlček, Lukáš (advisor) ; Jeníček, Michal (referee)
The presented diploma thesis deals with the implementation of the SWAT eco- hydrological model at the upper Vydra basin in Šumava. In the first simulation, the model was built without inserted extinced small water reservoirs. In the second simulation, the effect of the possible inclusion of the small water reservoirs on the transformation of peak flows and the mitigation of low flows during dry periods is studied. To achieve the desired results, the SWAT model was used. This model is still not widely used in our territory. Model calibration was performed using the SWAT-CUP semi-automatic calibration software. Through the conducted research, it was found that in the case of the inclusion of some reservoirs, there is a slight reduction in peak flows and an improvement in low flows during dry periods. The influence of the inclusion of the reservoirs in the final profile of the basin of interest in Modrava is less apparent. The results also include a option with the five times greater volume of the reservoirs. The presented results and their discussion could provide more detailed information about the inclusion of today's defunct reservoirs in the runoff regime in the upper Vydra basin. Analysis and modelling the changes of water quality in the Olšava river basin.
Kaiglová, Jana ; Langhammer, Jakub (advisor) ; Kliment, Zdeněk (referee)
The main goal of the thesis is to create an accurate model of the current state of water quality modelling in the river basin. The basin of the Olšava River, as found in the bachelor thesis "Analysis of Water Quality in the Basin", is polluted with large concentrations of total phosphorus PTot. The master thesis analyses sources of nutrients in the basin that is mainly listed in the vulnerable areas indentified under the Nitrates Directive 91/676/EEC, on the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources. For the water resources management and environmental policy is crucial to recognize distribution of pollution sources throughout main categories. The thesis is concerned with the seasonal variability of the average mass concentrations along the river channel. Broadly used mathematical modelling software of water quality is discussed in the sense of reliability, availability and user interface. Last but not least is a suggestion of two improvements of the water quality based on the MIKE Basin modelling software. The main aim of these proposals is to be realistic in the economical and environmental sense. Proposals consider both in point and non-point sources. Temporal and spatial variability of selected runoff episodes in the headstream area of the Blanice River
Kodádková, Iveta ; Kliment, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Jeníček, Michal (referee)
This study is focused on the evaluation of selected rainfall-runoff episodes in terms of temporal and spatial distribution of rainfall and runoff in the upper basin of the Blanice River. HEC - HMS model with two variants of spatial discretization was used to achieve the results of the holistic approach. The main input data was quantitative precipitation estimation, which better assessed the spatial variability of rainfall fields than interpolated ground measurements. The model simulated five episodes. Contrary to expectations, southern headstream area of the basin showed lower coefficient of runoff in comparison with its northern part. Precipitation cores of epizods occurred over the northern part of the basin at the outlet. Outputs from the model were evaluated in relation to measurements carried out in the experimental basin Zbytiny. Hydrologické a hydraulické modelování jako podklad pro plánovací činnost obce – případová studie Lešany u Prostějova
Ulrich, Ondřej
The diploma thesis is focused on the use of software based on an open-source license to determine scale and extent of the flood risk of municipality with the possibility of use for municipality spatial planning activities. The diploma thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. Theoretical part deals with issues related to flood wave, flood types, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, land use documents, land use planning documents and flood control measures of non-technical and technical character with local purpose. In the practical part an analysis of the Lešany u Prostějova territory was carried out for the identification of critical sites from the point of view of the flash floods. The critical sites, also called the critical points, were further analyzed for determination of the scale and extent of the flood risk. At the end of the practical part the used analyses and models for municipal self-government are evaluated. Also, an idealized design of flood control measures and measures for water retention in the landscape are presented. All outputs are presented as maps and included in the annex of the diploma thesis.
Analýza vlivu potenciálně vybudovaného vodního díla na odtok vody z vybraného povodí pomocí hydrologického modelování
REZEK, Alfred
The object of this dissertation is to describe the influence of water works on the outflow from a watershed through the Hydrologic Modelling System Hec HMS. It is a direct application to the particular watershed of the Bílský Stream. In the theoretical part about relevant literature, solutions to the topics related to this issue are found. It focuses especially on the water balance in the watershed; the outflow from the watershed and other factors by which the watershed is influenced; extreme flows and flood activity with appropriate security steps such as water basins. At the end of the part on the literature, there are five different systems for creating hydrologic models with the specialisation on the Hec HMS model. The practical part is about preparing input data for the hydrologic model and its subsequent creation. Particular runoff from different N-year precipitation (N = 2, 10, 50 and 100) are compared. Two hydrologic models have been created for comparison, one with the watershed without a reservoir and the second one with a reservoir included. The resultant part is about watching flows, volumes of runoffs and the tranformation of the flood wave in a reservoir between N-year precipitation and two different models of watershed.
